MSU RN Unit Educator

  • Position Summary
    • The medical surgical Unit Based Educator (UBE) is a nurse who demonstrates competence in all aspects of med surg nursing, providing delivery of care to a variety of patients including but not limited to; telemetry cardiac monitoring, pediatrics, general surgical, general medical, stroke, orthopedics, and urology. The UBE is patient, enthusiastic, passionate and flexible and practices in partnership with a diverse nursing population to guide and facilitate the learning process. Through the creation of an environment that is conducive to learning, the UBE takes on the role of mentor, role model, advocate and facilitator of learning for nurses in the diverse med surg practice setting. The UBE adopts a learner-centered approach that incorporates the principles of adult learning that manifests as mutual engagement in the learning process with learner empowerment and improved learner outcomes. The UBE has knowledge of the "Standards of Nursing Practice" (ANA, 2010b, p.9-11) and the "ANA Code of Ethics" (ANA, 2001), and applies these concepts as she guides new unit nurses in the areas of patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety and informatics. The UBE delivers exceptional care to Medical Surgical patients and steps into the caregiver role on a scheduled or unscheduled basis. The Medical/Surgical UBE works under the direction of the Medical/Surgical Unit Director.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Current/Valid License in the state of Maine as a registered professional Nurse. Current BLS and ACLS certification. Completion of PEARS within 1 year of hire
    • Demonstrated partnering with clinical and administrative leadership, Bachelors and Masters preferred.
    • A minimum of 3 years nursing experience. Recent med surg experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
